R E M I N D E R– MEETING REPORT

Location: Kanjiža (Serbia), Regional Professional Teacher Training Center, lecture hall.
Date: 7-8 August 2014

Topic: EUROPEAN YEAR OF CITIZENS workshop
The 4th workshops` title: „The teacher`s place and role in the education system”
Fourthly held workshop in Kanjiža was attended by leaders and representatives of educational institutions of twin cities. The aims of the workshop are: exchange of experience, presentation of good practices and examples, such as outline and discuss common problems.
Themes organized around the education: Teachers in the school system`s network, the teachers ` portfolio, the students ` portfolio, the teachers ` individual develop plan.
Directors of educational institutions from Municipality of Kanjiža were also presents. They were actively involved in the work with their comments.
Krisztina Telek, professional staff of the Centre and psychologist at Primary School Jovan Jovanović Zmaj in Kanjiža , held a presentation. It`s title was: Teachers in the school systems` network. It`s presented the results of the Center`s research, which examined the children`s, parents` and teachers` attitude and opinions about education. Benefits and imperfections of the Serbian Educational Act were mentioned. It is probable, that many difficulties could prevent the meeting of lawmakers and practice. The importance of the role of the community and the individual can show you the way towards development.
The report, which was held by Tatjana Varjú Potrebić, contained a summary of what has been said in the previous workshops.
The workshops` participants comments were grouped around the inclusive education.
Summary of comments:
1. The importance of teachers` authority.
2. The teacher must to fulfill multiple roles.
3. The difference is big between the teachers` and pupils` perception.
4. Precondition of development is the continuous professional training.
5. Very important to ensure the conditions, we need to ensure high quality training, motivate teachers to actively develop their constant development.
6. There are difficulties with the introduction of inclusive education in Serbia, so we need to learn from those countries which already have trodden their way.
7. The common thinking is still very useful in solving a problem, the exchange of experience is required, it strengthens us.

Completion of the workshop, the participants visited the other rooms in the Regional Professional Teacher Training Centre.
